Hi-Desert Nature Museum Receives Generous Bequest

The Hi-Desert Nature Museum received a $33,415 bequest from Cleo Hawley, a supporter who died in 2006. Ms. Hawley was a registered nurse who retired in Yucca Valley and lived here for 22 years. She was a talented artist and an active member of numerous artist groups in the area. She lived to be 93, and painted until five years before her death. Lisa Kinder, great niece of Cleo Hawley, presented the check to Town of Yucca Valley Mayor Robert Leone in a ceremony on Friday, March 21, 2008. In addition to the bequest, Ms. Kinder donated a watercolor depicting a yucca plant in bloom painted by Cleo Hawley to the museum’s permanent collections.
