Donate Items

Many of the objects in the Hi-Desert Nature Museum's collections have been acquired through generous donations from community members and supporters.

The Hi-Desert Nature Museum is an active collecting institution and is continuously striving to acquire regional treasures for preservation and that help to educate our visitors.

The Museum is accepting the following items that are especially relevant within the High Desert and Morongo Basin region: *

  • Photographs, publications and documents related to local sites, events or historic figures dating prior to 1970

  • Artifacts related to local sites, events or historic figures dating prior to 1970

  • Memorabilia related to local events such as Grubstakes

  • Artifacts related to homesteading, ranching and mining in the Mojave Desert

  • Original artwork from the artists Kirk Martin, Howard Pierce, or John Hilton

  • Hi-Desert Nature Museum memorabilia

*The list  above is not exhaustive.

If you wish to donate an item, please contact Charlie Rossow, the Museum Collections & Exhibits Coordinator via email at crossow@yucca-valley.org with a description along with images of the item(s) you are interested in donating.  You can also call the Museum directly at (760) 369-7212.

Items subject to accession by the Hi-Desert Nature Museum will undergo a formal process, which includes documentation and approval by the Town of Yucca Valley’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission.  All items must be rightfully owned by the donor and ethically sourced.
