In preparation for Earth Day 2025, the Hi-Desert Nature Museum and local conservancy organizations are coming together for an uplifting day of environmental action, education, and engagement. The event will take place on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum and Town of Yucca Valley Community Center and will feature a variety of interactive activities, sustainability workshops, and demonstrations designed to inspire a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship.

This year’s event will feature pop-ups from local conservancy and naturalist groups such as Morongo Basin Conservation Association, Mil-Tree Garden, Activists of the Morongo Basin, Plant Parenthood, Joshua Tree National Park, and Hi-Desert Water District.  Burrtec will also be on site to demonstrate the process and science of composting.

In addition to our community partners, the museum will be providing a family-friendly, hands-on workshop that gives guests a chance to create original works of art from discarded materials inspired by the museum’s annual community recycled-art exhibition, From Waste to Wonder. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn how to make desert wildflower seed-bombs, watch a demonstration on crafting a bug hotel to attract and provide shelter for local pollinators, and decorate a reusable tote-bag using eco-friendly art supplies (while supplies last).  The Hi-Desert Nature Museum’s Earth Day celebration is free and open to all ages. Join us on this festive day to celebrate our planet and take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future!
