General Patton and the Desert Training Center 

This presentation covers the life and military career of General George S. Patton and the Desert Training Center he launched just 30 miles east of Indio.  While General Patton was only at the Desert Training Center for the first four months of its existence, his influence was felt until its closing in 1944.   Learn about this larger-than-life leader of men whom the Germans most feared as a battlefield commander.  

Sid Burks retired from the California Community College system as an instructor and administrator.  He is currently a full-time lecturer for California State University San Bernardino in Career Technical Studies.  He is a student of desert, aviation, and military history.
