Illuminate your imagination while exploring the fascinating science behind fluorescence and find out what makes these vibrant colors pop!
This STEAM workshop aims to shine light on the hidden world of color at the edge of human perception through engaging demonstrations using UV light to observe fluorescence in a surprising number of everyday materials. Students will get inspiration from examining the practical applications of photoluminescent pigments and dyes in the fields of geology, medicine, wildlife biology, engineering and design, and then create unique, eye-catching works of art bursting with color using non-toxic fluorescent paint on canvas! No prior experience necessary.
All materials for the workshop are supplied by the museum; one needs only to bring their curiosity and enthusiasm to experiment.
The registration fee is $15 per participant and pre-registration is required. These workshops fill up fast, so early registration is highly recommended!
