STEAM Bath Bomb and Soap Workshop

Saturday, January 31, 2026
STEAM Workshop Learn to make your own soap and bath bomb. This workshop is being offered at no cost thanks to a generous sponsorship by Catclaw. Free, registration required.

Hi-Desert Nature Museum welcomes curious young minds and creative spirits to discover the fascinating world of chemistry behind popular self-care products while creating their own custom bath bombs and soap!

On Saturday, January 31 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., children ages 7-17 are invited to join Dissertation Soap for a free, interactive STEM-inspired workshop that blends science and creativity to connect complex scientific concepts with everyday experiences.

During the two-hour workshop, participants will learn about the role acids and bases play in chemical reactions, what makes bath bombs fizz and the importance of pH balance in skincare products. Led by Dissertation Soap founder Julie Reints, Ph.D., this workshop provides a dynamic, inclusive and hands-on educational experience that will teach students how to make their own self-care products using all-natural, non-toxic ingredients. Attendees will work with herbs, clays, skin-friendly ointments and essential oils to infuse their bath bombs and soap with unique decorative touches and custom scents. Everything one needs to craft their spa-worthy creations is provided, just get ready to be creative!

A special thank you to Catclaw, the generous sponsor whose donation allows this workshop to be provided free of charge. Space is limited and registration is required. This workshop is likely to fill up quickly, so early registration is highly recommended!
